Dr. Stacie Papineau
CO-OWNER & CLINICAL SUPERVISOR, PhD, MA, LPCC, LMHC, SEP, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist
I create space to deeply understand your experience and create actionable steps to attain the change you’re looking for.
With more than two decades of experience in the mental health field, my work is rooted in a deep commitment to understanding the lifelong impact of trauma and the profound resilience of the human spirit. I began my career working in the field of interpersonal violence in Guam and rural Alaska, supporting communities deeply affected by sexual assault and domestic violence. These early experiences shaped my trauma-informed, relational approach—one that honors the complexity of people’s stories and centers healing as a deeply personal, embodied process.
Today, as a co-owner and clinical supervisor at Modern Sessions, I lead with a relational, science-based perspective. I support clinicians and clients alike through a lens grounded in neurodevelopment, attachment, and nervous system regulation. My approach integrates body-based, bottom-up practices alongside open, affirming dialogue around identity, intimacy, and sexuality—creating therapeutic space rooted in safety, connection, and respect.
As a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, I help individuals reconnect—with their bodies, their relationships, and their sense of self—so they can move through the world with greater clarity, agency, and confidence. My work is especially informed by my experience with underserved and marginalized communities, including veterans, immigrants and refugees, foster youth, survivors of violence, and those navigating the asylum process.
I am also an Air Force veteran, and my personal and professional experiences continually shape my passion for trauma-responsive care. Whether in therapy or supervision, I bring humility, curiosity, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience.
