Sometimes, talk therapy alone isn’t enough to heal the deeper issues behind the challenges you’re experiencing.

If you’re ready to see real results that go beyond the possibilities of traditional therapy, the holistic therapy methods we offer — EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, and Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experiencing — can get you there.

You might be here thinking…

  • “I’ve talked about it so much, and I still feel the same.”

  • “I don’t know why I can’t get over what happened.”

  • “The anxiety is so overwhelming, I just want it to stop.”

  • “I’ve been this way for so long, I can’t imagine ever feeling better.”

Maybe you’ve had a traumatic experience that has left you feeling panicked at the thought of it, even months or years later. Feelings of fear, grief, and guilt follow you everywhere, and at this point, it feels like you’re constantly in survival mode.

We’ll help you find relief and start really living…free from the past.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy method that connects both sides of your brain in order to help “reprocess” painful experiences.

Your early sessions will involve talking about what bothers you and learning how to move through the emotions that might come up during treatment. Next, you’ll think about a tough event as your therapist instructs you to do eye movements, tap on parts of your body, or plays sounds while you focus. This helps your brain process the difficult memory in a new way. You will be in control and can stop anytime. This process is repeated until the memory feels less upsetting.

Many people have reported feeling results within 6-12 sessions. We use a program called RemotEMDR to utilize this method in an online setting.

  • Brainspotting is a powerful tool that can help you process and let go of difficult experiences. It’s an effective method for dealing with emotional pain, trauma, and tough symptoms by tapping into your brain's natural healing abilities.

Using eye positions to target areas in your brain where these issues are stored, even if you're not fully aware of them, your therapist can help you access your deeper emotions and start to heal.

This method, along with a foundation of trust established between you and your therapist, can help you feel a sense of relief in just a few sessions.

  • Imagine a way to heal emotional pain and stress by tuning into your body's natural rhythms. This approach, called Somatic Experiencing (SE), sees trauma as something that can affect how your body and mind work together.

SE helps you become more aware of your body's signals and sensations, so you can address and overcome difficult feelings. By doing this, it aims to bring back your true self – helping you feel balanced, relaxed, and whole again.

  • Have you noticed that a lot of your feelings of anxiety and depression are brought up by issues in your relationships?

Attachment theory offers insights into the root causes of these challenges. It explains how early childhood patterns influence our adult behaviors and expectations in relationships, whether with family, friends, or partners.

By delving into your nervous system's responses and helping you communicate needs better, we work on improving relationship dynamics and resilience even when needs can't be fully met.

Holistic therapy can help you:

how we work

Holistic therapy methods can help you…

  • Feel like you’ve healed or fully moved on

  • Rediscover hope and connect more deeply with others

  • Break free from old, self-destructive patterns

  • Take back your power & live life to the fullest

When you give yourself the chance to acknowledge your past, you’re able to move through it and forward into the future. No matter how long you have been struggling, with these holistic therapy methods, inner peace is possible.

  • "Holistic" refers to an approach that considers the whole person—mind, body, emotions, and spirit—rather than focusing solely on specific symptoms or issues. It emphasizes the interconnectedness of various aspects of your well-being and seeks to promote overall health and balance.

  • Each therapist at Modern Sessions has training in some or multiple of the above modalities, and our practice owner, Renee Williams, has built the practice on the foundation of these methods. You can learn more about each of our therapists here.

  • The number of EMDR sessions you'll need can vary based on individual factors such as the nature of your trauma and your response to treatment. On average, some clients find relief in as few as 6-12 sessions, while more complex cases may require more. Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine the optimal treatment plan.

  • EMDR is especially effective for individuals who have experienced trauma, PTSD, or distressing life events. It has also shown promise for anxiety, phobias, and other emotional issues. If you've been struggling with the impact of past experiences or negative emotions, EMDR could be a treatment to consider.

  • Brainspotting has shown promising results in helping many individuals process trauma. While research is ongoing, many therapists and clients continually report positive outcomes.
